  • Why should I work with a licensed immigration consultant in Canada?

Canadian immigration law is complex, frequently changing, and the consequences of errors can be serious and long-lasting. Working with a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) ensures that you receive professional, accurate, and legally authorized immigration advice.

Only RCICs licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and lawyers regulated by provincial law societies are legally authorized to provide immigration advice for compensation in Canada. Unlicensed consultants, sometimes referred to as ghost consultants, operate illegally and put your immigration future at serious risk. Wrong permit types, missed deadlines, and incorrect applications can result in refusals, loss of status, and in some cases, removal from Canada.

Jennifer Johnson holds RCIC licence number R709916, which can be verified at any time on the CICC public register at register.college-ic.ca. When you work with iCA Immigration and Talent Services, you are working with a fully regulated professional who is accountable to a national governing body, carries professional insurance, and is required to meet ongoing education and ethical standards.

When the stakes are this high, working with a licensed professional is not just a good idea. It is the most important decision you will make in your immigration journey.

  • Does iCA help employers hire international workers?

Yes. iCA Immigration and Talent Services works with Canadian businesses across Sault Ste. Marie and Northern Ontario that need skilled international workers.

We help employers understand which immigration pathways are available based on their business size, sector, and workforce needs. Our employer services include guidance through Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications, employer support for the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP), end-to-end employer support under the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream, and connections to job-ready international candidates through the iCA Talent Pool.

Our RCIP Employer Support Full Service is a comprehensive package designed for businesses that want professional, end-to-end support from employer designation through to application submission. This service includes an employer eligibility assessment, employee eligibility assessment, documentation support, application preparation, and compliance guidance. Employees supported through this service also receive a 20 percent discount on future iCA services for subsequent immigration applications.

For employers who have already assembled their own RCIP application and want a professional review before submission, the RCIP Application Review Service is available separately. Contact our reception team at reception@ica-canada.ca or call 1-807-500-1912 to inquire.

  • What makes iCA Immigration different from other immigration consulting firms?

iCA Immigration and Talent Services is Sault Ste. Marie's original licensed immigration consultancy, founded and led by Jennifer Johnson, RCIC, whose deep roots in the Northern Ontario community and expertise in community-based immigration pathways set iCA apart from larger urban firms.

We are a local firm that understands Northern Ontario. We specialize in the Rural Community Immigration Pilot, a program where local employer relationships, community knowledge, and regional context matter enormously. We know the designated employers, the priority sectors, the community requirements, and the timelines in ways that a firm based in Toronto or Vancouver simply cannot replicate.

We serve both individuals and employers under one roof. Rather than separating immigration consulting from talent recruitment, iCA connects skilled international candidates with Northern Ontario employers and supports both sides of the process from permit to permanent residence.

We won the Gold Award at Community Votes Sault Ste. Marie 2026 and the Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award at the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Awards in May 2026. These recognitions reflect the trust this community has placed in iCA and the standard of work the team delivers every day.

We are also proud members of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) and operate in full compliance with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) professional standards.

  • Can iCA help if my immigration application was refused?

It depends on the type of refusal and the circumstances of your file. The first step is to book a paid consultation so Jennifer Johnson, RCIC, can review your refusal letter and assess the options available to you.

For temporary resident refusals including work permits, study permits, and visitor visas, reapplying is generally possible. However, reapplying with the same information that led to the original refusal is unlikely to succeed. Jennifer will review the reasons for the refusal and help you understand what needs to change before you reapply.

For permanent residence refusals, options may include requests for reconsideration, appeals to the Immigration Appeal Division depending on the type of application, or judicial review through the Federal Court in cases where procedural fairness issues are present.

It is important to act quickly after receiving a refusal. Timelines for certain options are limited and delay can reduce the choices available to you. If your temporary status is also at risk following a refusal, addressing your status situation is urgent.

Note that iCA does not offer a standalone application review service for previously refused applications. However, during a paid consultation, Jennifer can review your situation and advise on the best path forward.
